Here's a cool little single I know next to nothing about.
What I do know is that Breakfast in Bed were an Australian band and that they released this single, Sorry Babe backed with Going Home in 1983 on Jonathon Apple Productions. I don't know if they released anything else.
The style is female-fronted power pop in the vein of other Aussie acts from around the same time such as Flaming Hands and The Dugites. For a less obscure reference, it sounds kind of like Blondie.

Off topic here, but you're from Boston, right? What can you tell me about a songwriter from there called Bleu? I just previewed an album that I love by a band named L.E.O. with this dude Bleu at the helm. Anything?

This is amazing. I would just like to clarify that the link musicmadness posted is not about the Breakfast in Bed who wrote Sorry Babe.
The drummer of this band, Mick Aarts, is actually my dad.

Lead guitarist is Vince Redal. I worked with him for a few years. He is an absolute legend and musical genius.
Breakfast in Bed were friends of mine, they are: Vince Redal (guitar), Mal Bourke (Bass), Mick Arts (Drums) and Marianne Gifford (Vocals). This was their one and only release, and the Blondie influence is very real, other influences at the time were Pat Benatar and the like. Internal relationships ended up killing the band off....
Internal relationships didn't kill off the band - they'd been together for ages and the guys wanted a break to do other things. Musical influences were incredibly varied - mostly 60s pop (and earlier) and 80s new wave. Pat Benator and Blondie weren't really influences...
hi,saw the band at Austral bowling club many moons ago.really liked them too.
They were a terrific original pop band. Somewhat country/early r'n'r influenced, Mal and Mary-Anne in particular loved a country tune, Vince is a terrific rock guitarist. They were caught a little between worlds -- at the time, tough pub rock and fast and furious new wave ruled Sydney ... by way of example they finished second in the old Southern Cross (now Strawberry Hills Pub) band comp behind Lime Spiders. Mary-Anne is a truly fantastic singer, played on for a while -- had a publishing gig with Warners but they tried to turn her into something she wasn't - she's now a widely respected theatre professional and academic. Mal continued on, playing rockabilly (Hot Diggity Dogs) with Vince and Mick -- The single, their only one doesn't the band justice .. Mary-Anne realized one solo single later.
