Head over to the New Wave Outpost message board to grab three rare demos from The Motels, recorded during the sessions for their 1985 album, "Shock."
The songs, "Ice House," "I'm a Liar" and "Midnight Nightingale," are strong enough to have been included on the LP, but for some reason were left off. "Ice House," in particular, is a great slice of upbeat new wave/power pop with a memorable melody and standout vocals by Martha Davis.
"Shock" was the final LP from the original band. Davis released a new Motels album, "This," with a new backing band in 2008.

Was very thrilled to find these, although the download for "I'm A Liar" seems to be gone!:( (Guess I found this too late!) The good news is there's now 4 songs on the website (May have updated?) to include Selma & Babylon. Martha also seems to be busy kicking out another 2 solo albums "Beautiful Life" & "So The Story Goes" since the mentioned "Motels: This." as well as releasing a CD of 10 old Motels songs re-recorded "Clean Modern & Reasonable" There's also a host of singles (Mr Grey) & covers from Eurythmics " Sweet Dreams" to Sinead's "Nothing Compares to You" to Lady Gaga's "Pokerface!" Nice to see her going strong again, and TY "Immensely" for the catch here! :)
